LIDEA BRINGS BETTER YIELD

With better yields, you get more out of life.

Lidea, a multi-crop seed company, offers you a complete range of technical and sustainable solutions for corn, sunflower, soybean, sorghum, rapeseed, pulses, cereals and forages.

Solutions specifically designed to improve and optimise yields.

Lidea’s primary mission is to maximise and secure profitability per hectare for farmers. In order to achieve this objective throughout Europe, Lidea draws on a multi-annual agro-climatic database that provides a very precise picture of crop conditions across the continent, as well as the ideal corresponding varietal criteria.

Lidea works at various levels to improve production for farmers. At the forefront, Lidea’s Customer Satisfaction department enables us to put farmers at the heart of our projects by gaining a better understanding of their current and future challenges. In parallel, Lidea has set up variety trials across Europe, in different climates and terroirs. This allows us to place new hybrids in conditions as close as possible to those encountered by farmers. Finally, Lidea’s R&D departments work upstream on solutions adapted to the major challenges of the future, such as global warming, to offer farmers the best possible performance for tomorrow.

CORN

Lidea works at various levels to improve production for farmers. At the forefront, Lidea’s Customer Satisfaction department enables us to put farmers at the heart of our projects by gaining a better understanding of their current and future challenges. In parallel, Lidea has set up variety trials across Europe, in different climates and terroirs. This allows us to place new hybrids in conditions as close as possible to those encountered by farmers. Finally, Lidea’s R&D departments work upstream on solutions adapted to the major challenges of the future, such as global warming, to offer farmers the best possible performance for tomorrow.

In order to improve farmers’ yields, we not only work on solutions linked to genetics, but also on the full range of aspects including sowability, sowing solutions, irrigation and fertilisation advice to achieve the best yield potential.

SUNFLOWER

The sunflower research programme is divided into four units to address the different situations of farmers more effectively. Lidea’s history of partnerships and acquisitions means that it now has access to among the most diverse sunflower germplasm in the world. This is a major strength. By combining different genetic families, we can create several thousand new varieties every year, which are then tested throughout Europe and subjected to rigorous selection. Only those hybrids that guarantee a very significant increase in yield are retained. For every thousand varieties created, only one will be selected for production and sale to farmers. It must combine yield potential and security.

To accelerate genetic progress, Lidea pioneered the use of molecular marking and today has expertise in predictive genomics. The combination of these cutting-edge technologies and a field-testing network of several thousand microplots means that we can guarantee varieties with the best yields for European farmers. The results are visible and directly measurable, with the level of satisfaction among farmers choosing Lidea’s sunflower varieties among the highest.

RAPESEED

Rapeseed is one of the crops that remains in the soil for the longest period, around 11 months. It is potentially more affected by abiotic and biotic stresses. It is also the family most subject to insect attack.
Lidea therefore pursues two lines of research aimed at securing yields:
- Pure genetic potential: some of our varieties introduced to the market this year, such as LID INVICTO, have exceeded 8 t/ha on intensive microplots without stress.
- Resilience to biotic and abiotic stresses, to retain full genetic potential.

The last 10 years of our breeding programme have resulted in several varieties released in 2023 being among the TOP 5 in terms of yield in many official European networks.

SOYBEAN

Lidea brings better yields in soybean thanks to the first European breeding program which propose for all market from early type (000) to late type (II). We only produce certified seed, which guarantees quality and traceability.

CEREALS

We only produce certified seed, which guarantees quality and traceability.
In cereals, our efforts focus on varieties that optimise nitrogen absorption capacity, such as SONATINE and NOVIC, in order to limit input costs for farmers.

SORGHUM

Since the introduction of grain sorghum in the 1350s and the discovery of cytoplasmic male sterility in 1954, breeders have constantly improved and, above all, adapted this tropical climate genetic to our temperate European climates.
The initial focus was on plant size to facilitate mechanical harvesting of the grain, followed by earliness for shorter cycles in Europe, while at the same time improving yields over the generations.

In the course of the last 20-25 years, yields have risen by 0.5 quintals/year, with a national average of 5-6 tonnes per hectare, but with peaks in deep soil and under normal conditions that can reach approximately 10 tonnes, with a record in Hungary of over 13 tonnes per hectare for optimum use in European markets.

When farmers want to make the most of their potential in moderately deep to deep soil, they can achieve very good yields without irrigation, while obtaining high quality production suitable for all possible uses in animal feed, human food and bioenergy.

FODDER

Lidea brings better yield thanks to:

  • performant and productive alfalfa with our transversal genetics adapted to all situations, from CHAPKA  dormancy 3 to RADIA, dormancy 8
  • alfalfa mixtures which increasing usage periode in conventionnel with LIDGRASS TRIOLUZ and SKYLUZ in organic
  • complete forage mixtures adapted to all soil and climate by optimizing  the regularity of production with LIDGRASS PROT

Our service plants offer  "summer biogas range", awarded "BIO EUROPE" innovation prize.

COVER CROPS

Lidea offers solutions to improve soil structure (LIDCOVER STRUCTUR) or increase nitrogen absorption capacity (LIDCOVER NITRO or LIDCOVER NUTRI) in order to limit input costs for farmers and improve yields for the subsequent crop.

Farmers are the best ambassadors.
