Agronomic characteristics

Brown mustard showed a development equivalent to that of white mustard. With higher levels of certain glucosinolates than other crucifers, brown mustard could have stronger allelopathic effects on certain fungi (foot rot in wheat on wheat, black rhizoctonia, etc.). However, these effects proved to be very random under practical field conditions and are effective by biofumigation. The varieties are distinguished by their early flowering even if they all remain fairly comparable to early white mustards.
