Let's see how the market situation has evolved since the last two weeks.
THE OILSEED MARKET
Rapeseed prices are setting new records. This increase is due to low seed supply following the production incident in Canada whilst demand is still strong.
The sunflower harvests look promising in Europe and Ukraine but they are behind schedule, adding to the tightness in the short term. Lastly, and with regard to soya, the USA is entering the best period for exports. Sales are good and in line with the average. Loading, however, is behind schedule because of logistical problems and must be monitored.
THE GRAIN MARKET
The wheat market is still leading the increase across the entire cereal complex, boosted by buoyant international demand. Added to which, the maize market's usual suppliers are struggling, particularly in the USA because of loading issues. This was all it took to drive the entire cereal complex up again in the current context of tight supply. Demand is keeping the cereal market tight at the moment, be it for wheat, maize or malting barley.
