DISEASES (FUSARIUM AND MACROPHOMINA)
OBJECTIVE: SELECT Varieties with good tolerance and good crop management
- Attack at base of stem (collet) and roots, significant lodging observed with fast drying of the plant and the panicle
- Favourable factors: very hot temperature before flowering time, rapid growth of plants, high density of sowing and high nitrogen level
- Pests of weakness: In risk situations, avoid sowing sensitive varieties, limit the vegetative development of the crop by providing only the necessary nitrogen rate and reduce sowing densities.
