OBJECTIVE: adapt WELL to the PLOT

  • Earliness: adapt the choice to the region and to the sowing date. Very early to mid-early grain varieties for early harvest
  •  Productivity
  • Apical sterility tolerance: avoid susceptible varieties
  • Dryness tolerance: principally without irrigation
  • Susceptibility to macrophomina and fusarium: avoid susceptible varieties
  • Lodging resistance
  • Early variety in secondary crop
  • Poor tannin content since 1980s in Europe
