Lidea and Agritel, market news

Oilseed complex

Prices on the rapeseed complex seem to have found their balance after a sharp fall in global demand. Demand in Europe, however, is still rather buoyant and there are ongoing risks. Rapeseed sowings in Canada are dragging on and in rather average conditions. Even though the sowings are not yet over, canola yields could already be compromised if there is early drought on the Canadian prairies. The situation for sunflower and soya is far from clear as the crops are just starting to develop. As per usual at this time of year, all eyes will be fixed on the weather for the summer crops.

Cereals complex

Cereal prices reached new highs before getting their breath back. Nonetheless, the uncertainty for all cereal production is such that firmness is likely to remain the order of the day. This is especially true as the weather forecasts are not the most reassuring around the world. Ukraine’s ability to increase exports if logistical solutions can be found is also a major issue for the market.
