Oilseed complex:

The bombardment of Ukraine is bringing a new risk premium to the agricultural markets. The continuation of exports from the Black Sea is more uncertain than ever, whilst from a fundamental point of view there are doubts about the good canola harvests expected in Canada and Australia because of uncertainty about the weather. The sunflower market is also worried as the harvests are still behind schedule and there are concerns about quality.

Cereals complex:

The focus is now on the increasing tension in the Black Sea. Traders are concerned about the export capacity of Ukraine and Russia over the coming months as their supply is vital for the balance of the global markets. The northern hemisphere’s production has now been integrated by the market, and the focus is turning to the southern hemisphere where the weather is far from perfect in Australia and Argentina now that La Niña has returned. We must remain vigilant, however, in these times of global recession and slowdown in demand.
